OUR BEST SELF-TANNERS TO USE FOR SPRING BREAK
Get your glow on while you’re off from school or work with one of the following self-tanners.
L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Water Mousse: Self-tanning mousses are all the rage, as are clear self-tanners. This spring break tanning option gives you the opportunity to try both trends, with its hydrating, clear mousse formula. Use it to leave your skin with a sun-kissed glow and an even finish. Apply it three times over 48 hours for a longer-lasting tan.
L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze™ Hydrating Self-Tanning Milk Medium: This gradual self-tanner is designed to gradually deliver an even, bronzed glow while softening and nourishing skin. Use it three times a week to build your glow, being sure to get started on your tan a few weeks before spring break.
L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze™ Self-Tanning Towelettes for Body: These convenient, single-use wipes have an advanced skin-smoothing formula with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and vitamin E for a smooth, streak-free tan. They’re perfect if you’ll be spending spring break on vacay because you can easily fit a few wipes into your carry on.
L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze™ ProPerfect Salon Airbrush Self-Tanning Mist: Want a salon-inspired airbrush tanning result at home? You can use a self-tanning mist and save a little on this spring break-related expense! The 360-degree wide angle jet applicator of this self-tanner mist provides continuous coverage for a 100 percent natural-looking tan. The super-fine mist applies evenly and dries quickly with no need to rub in, while the jet applicator allows you to cover a greater area of skin at one time for easy application.
L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze™ Self-Tanning Serum: Featuring a quick-dry formula, this self-tanning serum goes on streak-free and can last for up to two weeks. The best part is, it can be used on your body and your face so you won’t need to pack or purchase multiple products.
L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze™ Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion: This transfer- and water-resistant formula creates an instant bronze tint as your flawless-looking sunless tan develops. The bronze tint has a hint of shimmer and dries quickly. This is the perfect option when you procrastinate and need that immediate glow before hitting the beach!
L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze™ Self-Tanning Gelee: This refreshing skin-smoothing formula with AHAs and vitamin E creates a perfect, streak-free tan. The non-tinted, lightweight formula applies easily and dries quickly.
HOW TO APPLY SELF-TANNER
Once you’ve chosen the self-tanner you want to use over spring break, it’s time to get to work! Follow the steps below to get a believable-looking, streak-free faux tan.
Step 1: Cleanse and exfoliate skin
Applying self-tanner over rough areas of skin can result in a patchy finish. That’s why it’s important to cleanse and exfoliate first to get rid of any dead skin cell buildup on skin’s surface.
Step 2: Apply an oil-free moisturizer to any dry areas
Your self-tanner will cling to dry patches, so make sure to moisturize before tanning. Reach for an oil-free moisturizer of your choosing!
Step 3: Apply evenly all over your body
Regardless of which self-tanner you’ve chosen to use over spring break, make sure to apply it evenly to ensure the color goes on smoothly. We recommend working in small sections to make sure you don’t miss a single spot.
Step 4: Use sparingly around your ankles, knees, and elbows
These areas tend to soak up color, so use a light hand when applying self-tanner to them.
Step 5: Wash your hands thoroughly after use
You likely don’t want your hands to end up looking darker than the rest of your body, so head to the sink to wash your hands once you’re done with your self-tanner. It can also be a good idea to apply your self-tanner with a mitt that will protect your hands.
Step 6: Let your skin dry completely before putting on makeup or clothes
To avoid staining, be patient and allow your skin to totally dry prior to getting dressed or doing your makeup. When you’re ready to get dressed, reach for dark, loose clothing.
Step 7: Repeat
Generally, self-tanning isn’t a one and done activity. You can use your self-tanner of choice daily until you reach your desired level of tan, then once or twice a week to maintain the results.
